The T10 Asia Cup got underway at AJ Stadium in Delhi with a thriller as Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by 3 wickets with just 0.4 overs to spare.
Afghanistan were reeling at 37-5 before Karim Janat and Najam Kabul turned the innings around with a blazing 72-run stand off only 27 balls for the sixth wicket. Janat’s unbeaten 42 off 15 balls, supported by Kabul’s 25 off 15, carried Afghanistan to a competitive 115-6 in 10 overs.
In reply, Mohammad Nabi lit up the contest with a brilliant hattrick and finished with 4/13, threatening to derail Bangladesh’s chase. However, Shakib Al Hasan’s 41 off 19 and Mushfiqur Rahim’s unbeaten 24 off 9 held firm, guiding Bangladesh to 116-7 in 9.2 overs and a hard-fought victory in the tournament opener.
