Bangladesh Clinch Thrilling T10 Series Against Afghanistan as Shakib and Farooqi Shine

The Afghanistan Tour of Bangladesh 2026 delivered an unforgettable three-match T10 series filled with explosive batting, dramatic collapses, sensational bowling spells, and two historic hat-tricks. Bangladesh eventually secured the series 2-1, but both teams produced moments that made the tournament one of the most exciting short-format contests of the season.

From Shakib Al Hasan creating history with his second career T10 hat-trick to Fazalhaq Farooqi responding with a match-winning hat-trick of his own in the final game, the series showcased the unpredictable beauty of T10 cricket.

Match 1 – Bangladesh Dominate with Bat and Ball

Bangladesh started the series in devastating fashion with a massive 105-run victory in Sylhet. The hosts produced one of the most explosive batting displays seen in T10 cricket as Parvez Hossain Emon and Litton Das completely dismantled Afghanistan’s bowling attack.

Emon smashed the maiden fifty of his T10 career in only 11 balls and finished with 56 runs from 17 deliveries at a strike rate of 329.41. Litton Das then continued the assault with a breathtaking 62 off 24 balls, hitting nine sixes and registering the fifth fifty of his T10 career.

Bangladesh piled up a huge total of 178/5 in 10 overs, leaving Afghanistan under enormous pressure. The Afghan bowlers struggled badly, with even world-class spinner Rashid Khan unable to stop the run flow.

Afghanistan’s chase collapsed dramatically as Bangladesh’s bowlers dominated from the beginning. The defining moment came when Shakib Al Hasan produced a sensational hat-trick, dismissing Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Mohammad Nabi, and Rashid Khan in a magical spell.

Shakib finished with extraordinary figures of 4/6 in one over as Afghanistan were bowled out for just 73 runs in six overs.

Match 2 – Bangladesh Survive Collapse to Seal Series

The second match at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium presented a completely different challenge for Bangladesh. Afghanistan’s fast bowlers produced a fiery start, reducing Bangladesh to a shocking 0/3 as Tanzid Hasan, Parvez Hossain Emon, and Litton Das were dismissed without scoring.

Fazalhaq Farooqi and Naveen ul Haq ripped through the top order, but once again Shakib Al Hasan stepped up under pressure. The veteran all-rounder scored a valuable 26 runs from 18 balls to stabilize the innings.

Nasum Ahmed added a quick 28, while Mustafizur Rahman stunned Afghanistan with a brutal unbeaten 16 from only 3 balls, lifting Bangladesh to 87 all out.

Although the total looked small, Bangladesh’s bowlers delivered another brilliant performance. Shoriful Islam destroyed Afghanistan’s top order with three early wickets, while Shakib claimed another four-wicket haul.

Afghanistan were bowled out for just 57 runs as Bangladesh secured a 30-run victory and sealed the series with one match remaining.

Match 3 – Farooqi’s Revenge Gives Afghanistan Consolation Win

With the series already decided, Afghanistan responded strongly in the final match at Matiur Rahman Stadium. Batting first, Afghanistan struggled against Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack and managed only 69/9 in 10 overs.

Mustafizur Rahman was outstanding with 3/13, while Shakib continued his consistent form with two wickets.

However, Afghanistan’s bowlers completely changed the game during Bangladesh’s chase.

Fazalhaq Farooqi delivered a sensational spell and produced a match-winning hat-trick that stunned Bangladesh. He first bowled Litton Das before dismissing Saif Hassan on the next ball. Another wicket immediately after completed the hat-trick and left Bangladesh collapsing at 5/4.

Bangladesh never recovered from the disaster despite resistance from Towhid Hridoy and Mahedi Hasan. Afghanistan eventually bowled Bangladesh out for only 46 runs to secure a memorable 23-run victory.
