Ireland Seal Historic Series Triumph as Joshua Little’s Pace Wrecks England Again

Ireland continued their remarkable dominance in the England-Ireland Unity Series by defeating England by 14 runs in the second T10 international at the Bristol County Ground. Powered by another sensational spell from Joshua Little, Ireland defended a modest total of 106/3 to clinch the three-match series with an unassailable 2-0 lead.

After being asked to bat, Ireland built their innings around another dependable knock from captain Paul Stirling, who scored 37 off 27 deliveries, striking three boundaries and three sixes. Although the scoring rate remained steady rather than explosive, Stirling ensured Ireland survived the new-ball spell and provided a solid platform.

Following the early dismissal of George Ross Adair, wicketkeeper Lorcan Tucker produced the innings of the match with a fluent 38 from just 21 balls. Tucker attacked the England bowlers with clean hitting, smashing five sixes to lift Ireland beyond the 100-run mark. His partnership with Stirling stabilized the innings before both batters were dismissed via run-outs, highlighting England’s sharp fielding effort.

In the closing overs, Harry Tector remained unbeaten on 12, while Curtis Campher added a useful unbeaten cameo to guide Ireland to 106/3 from their allotted ten overs.

England’s bowling attack delivered a disciplined performance. Mark Wood was particularly economical, conceding only 8 runs from his two overs, while Jofra Archer continued his fine series by claiming the only wicket taken by a bowler, dismissing George Ross Adair. Despite keeping Ireland under control for much of the innings, England were unable to capitalize during the chase.

England’s reply suffered an immediate collapse as Ireland’s pace attack struck repeatedly. Joshua Little trapped Phil Salt lbw before Matthew Humphreys removed Jos Buttler for a duck, leaving England reeling inside the opening two overs.

The only significant resistance came from Harry Brook, who blasted 25 runs from just 8 deliveries, briefly raising England’s hopes with a flurry of boundaries. However, once Barry McCarthy dismissed Brook, Ireland completely tightened their grip on the contest.

The middle order failed to recover as Barry McCarthy removed Jacob Bethell, Curtis Campher accounted for Liam Livingstone, and Mark Adair dismissed Mark Wood. Joshua Little then returned to deliver another devastating spell, removing Sam Curran and Adil Rashid to finish with outstanding figures of 3 wickets for only 11 runs.

Although late unbeaten cameos from Luke Wood and Jofra Archer reduced the margin of defeat, England could only reach 92/9 in their ten overs, falling 14 runs short.

Ireland’s bowling unit once again impressed with contributions across the attack. Barry McCarthy claimed 2 wickets, Matthew Humphreys also picked up 2 wickets, while Curtis Campher and Mark Adair chipped in with one wicket each. Their collective discipline ensured England never recovered after the early breakthroughs.

For the second consecutive match, Joshua Little was deservedly named Player of the Match after producing another match-winning spell. Having taken 3 for 16 in the opening game, he bettered those figures with 3 for 11, finishing the first two matches with six wickets while consistently dismantling England’s top and middle order.

With victories in both opening fixtures, Ireland have already secured the inaugural England-Ireland Unity Series, taking an unbeatable 2-0 lead. The final match now presents Ireland with an opportunity to complete a memorable series whitewash, while England will be eager to salvage pride and end the tour with a consolation victory.
