Batsman Points are used to measure a batsman’s performance based on runs, strike rate, milestones, and match impact. It provides a fair way to compare players.
How Batsman Points Are Calculated
1. Points for Runs
Points from Runs = Player Runs × 0.5
Every run adds half a point.
2. Points for Average
Points from Average = Batting Average × 0.5
Rewards consistency across innings.
3. Points for Strike Rate
Strike Rate Bonus = 1 point for every 5 points of strike rate above 100
Rewards batsmen who score quickly.
4. Points for Milestones
- 30 runs → 10 points
- 50 runs → 20 points
- 100 runs → 50 points
Milestones give extra points for significant innings.
5. Points for Man of the Match
MOM Bonus = 10 points per Man of the Match award
Recognizes match-winning performances.
6. Deduction for Ducks
Duck Penalty = -10 points for each time the batsman scores 0
Penalizes innings with no contribution.
7. Total Batsman Points
Total Batsman Points = Runs Points + Average Points + Strike Rate Bonus + Milestone Points + MOM Bonus – Duck Penalty
This ensures both the quantity and quality of runs are rewarded.
