Stirling’s Storm Blows Away Bangladesh as Ireland Cruise to Opening T10 Triumph

Ireland produced a breathtaking batting display to begin the Bangladesh Tour of Ireland 2026 with an emphatic eight-wicket victory, chasing down 130 in just 6.5 overs. Led by a sensational all-round performance from Paul Stirling, the hosts overwhelmed Bangladesh to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match T10 series.

Bangladesh's innings was a rollercoaster from the very beginning. Tanzid Hasan launched the innings with immediate aggression before falling for 10 from only three deliveries, while Parvez Hossain Emon and Litton Das departed cheaply to leave the visitors struggling at 16/2. With the top order collapsing, Saif Hassan counterattacked brilliantly, smashing 53 off just 20 balls with eight towering sixes to completely change the momentum. His fearless strokeplay briefly placed Bangladesh in a commanding position despite wickets continuing to tumble around him.

Ireland's bowlers refused to let Bangladesh build lasting partnerships. Matthew Humphreys struck twice in quick succession to remove both Emon and Litton, while Curtis Campher, Barry McCarthy, Mark Adair, Joshua Little, and even Paul Stirling chipped in with wickets to keep the pressure on. Bangladesh slipped from 95/7 to eventually be bowled out for 129 in 9.2 overs, despite valuable late contributions from Nasum Ahmed (27 off 10) and Taskin Ahmed (15* off 5).

Although 130 appeared competitive in a T10 contest, Ireland's openers had completely different plans.

Captain Paul Stirling unleashed one of the finest T10 innings of his career, hammering 52 from just 16 deliveries at an astonishing strike rate of 325. His innings featured a barrage of boundaries and seven sixes, putting Bangladesh's bowlers under relentless pressure from the outset. After Stirling departed with the score already beyond 100, George Ross Adair continued the carnage with an unbeaten 52 from only 17 balls, while Harry Tector finished the chase in style with a rapid 16 off four deliveries*.

Ireland raced to 132/2 in only 6.5 overs, sealing victory with 19 balls to spare and making a powerful statement at the start of the series. Bangladesh's experienced bowling attack had no answers as every frontline bowler conceded well above 13 runs per over, with only Afif Hossain and Shakib Al Hasan managing to claim a wicket each.

Paul Stirling's outstanding contribution with both bat and ball earned him the Player of the Match award after he scored a whirlwind fifty and also claimed the wicket of Afif Hossain during Bangladesh's innings. Saif Hassan's lone resistance with the bat was one of the few positives for Bangladesh, but the visitors will need significant improvements from both their top-order batting and bowling attack if they hope to level the series in the second match. The match details are consistent with the scorecard shown for the opening fixture of the Bangladesh Tour of Ireland 2026.
