Bangladesh Hold Nerve in High-Scoring Thriller to Win Final Match and Avoid Series Whitewash

In a breathtaking finale at Kensington Oval, Bangladesh defeated West Indies by 10 runs in the third and last match of the series, ending the tour on a high despite losing the series 2–1. The match delivered relentless hitting, rapid wickets, and a dramatic finish, making it the most exciting clash of the three-match series.

Bangladesh, batting first, posted a massive 167/9 in 10 overs, thanks to a blazing start and explosive middle-order hitting. Litton Das was the star of the innings, smashing 67 off just 22 balls at a stunning strike rate of 304.55, dismantling the West Indies attack with clean, aggressive strokeplay. Opener Munim Shahriar (18 off 6) set the tone early, while Shakib Al Hasan’s fiery 26 off 7 balls provided further momentum. Afif Hossain (24 off 7) and Nurul Hasan (21 off 9) added vital contributions down the order to push Bangladesh past 160.

Chasing 168, West Indies started strongly but kept losing wickets at key moments. Nicholas Pooran played a sensational knock, blasting 71 from 23 balls with remarkable power hitting that kept the hosts in the chase. Shimron Hetmyer (27 off 8) also added crucial acceleration, but Bangladesh continued picking wickets at regular intervals.

Shakib Al Hasan was once again Bangladesh’s match-winner, delivering an outstanding all-round performance. His 3/18 in 2 overs, including the dismissals of Brandon King, Roston Chase, and Rahkeem Cornwall, turned the momentum towards Bangladesh at crucial moments. Mustafizur and Shoriful chipped in with wickets, but West Indies kept coming through aggressive batting.

With the match heading toward a nail-biting finish, West Indies needed 18 runs off the final over, but tight bowling ensured they fell short at 157/6, handing Bangladesh a hard-fought victory.

This win allowed Bangladesh to end the series with pride, while West Indies secured the series 2–1.
