Campher’s Carnage Caps Ireland’s Comeback in Series Finale

The third and final match between the Ireland cricket team and the Zimbabwe national cricket team at the Harare Sports Club delivered a high-scoring and entertaining finish to the series, with Ireland bouncing back strongly to claim a convincing 28-run victory.

Batting first, Ireland finally found the consistency that had eluded them in the earlier matches. After a brisk start from Paul Stirling, the innings was completely transformed by a breathtaking assault from Curtis Campher. Campher played a sensational knock of 60 from just 21 balls, mixing clean power with fearless stroke play to dismantle the Zimbabwean bowling attack. His innings propelled Ireland to an imposing 139 for 5 in the allotted 10 overs, their highest total of the series.

Zimbabwe’s reply began with intent but quickly faltered under sustained pressure from Ireland’s bowlers and sharp fielding. Early wickets disrupted the chase, and although Sikandar Raza fought valiantly with an unbeaten 23, Zimbabwe struggled to maintain the required momentum. Ireland’s bowlers shared the workload effectively, keeping runs in check and striking at regular intervals to prevent any serious comeback.

Zimbabwe eventually finished on 111 for 9 at the end of their 10 overs, falling 28 runs short of the target. The result ensured Ireland ended the tour on a positive note, showcasing their batting depth and improved execution, while Zimbabwe, despite the defeat, secured the series 2–1 thanks to their victories in the opening two matches.

Campher’s explosive all-round performance earned him the Man of the Match award and provided Ireland with a fitting finale to a competitive and action-packed series—one that highlighted both teams’ growing confidence and attacking intent in the shortest format.

Post-Match Remarks
Zimbabwe
We’re thrilled to have secured our first tournament win. This tournament has been a valuable learning experience for us, and today’s match was no exception. We experimented with different bowling variations today, moving away from our usual stock bowling, which proved effective in taking wickets in previous matches. The Irish team displayed impressive batting skills. Their shot selection was diverse and consistent, and we weren’t expecting such a high total to chase. We thoroughly enjoyed our batting as well. Some of the shots played by Raza and Luke Jongwe were truly remarkable. Overall, we had a fantastic match and a great tournament.
