Maxwell Magic and Marsh Mayhem Power Australia to Commanding Win

Australia delivered a dominant all-round performance to defeat Sri Lanka by 35 runs in the 24th match of the T10 World Cup 2026 at the Perth Stadium, strengthening their position in Group B with a convincing victory.

Batting first, Australia set the tone early with an explosive start from David Warner, who smashed 39 off 20 balls, providing early momentum. However, it was Mitchell Marsh who stole the spotlight with a breathtaking innings of 68 off just 23 balls, striking at a staggering rate and dismantling the Sri Lankan bowling attack. Marsh’s brutal hitting ensured Australia surged to an imposing 146 for 6 in 10 overs, despite Sri Lanka picking up wickets at regular intervals through Dushmantha Chameera and Wanindu Hasaranga.

In response, Sri Lanka began their chase with intent but struggled to maintain partnerships against Australia’s disciplined bowling. Dimuth Karunaratne (28 off 16) and Danushka Gunathilaka (19 off 8) offered brief resistance, keeping hopes alive in the middle overs. However, the turning point came when Glenn Maxwell was introduced into the attack.

Maxwell produced a match-winning spell, claiming 4 wickets for 16 runs in just 1.4 overs, ripping through Sri Lanka’s middle and lower order. His quick strikes halted the chase decisively, while Adam Zampa and Sean Abbott provided excellent support to ensure Sri Lanka were bowled out for 111 in 9.4 overs.

Earlier, Maxwell also made a cameo with the bat, scoring 7 off 3 balls, adding valuable late runs before showcasing his bowling brilliance. His exceptional all-round display earned him the Man of the Match award.

With this emphatic win, Australia showcased their explosive batting depth and lethal bowling attack, while Sri Lanka were left searching for answers as the tournament progresses. The match once again highlighted how swiftly momentum can shift in the high-octane T10 format.
