Pakistan’s Bowlers Turn 75 Into a Nightmare as West Indies Crumble in Trinidad
Pakistan pulled off one of the most unbelievable victories in T10 cricket history as they defended just 75 runs to defeat West Indies by 34 runs in the second match of the five-match series at the Brian Lara Stadium.
In a format built around explosive batting and high-scoring chases, Pakistan’s bowlers completely flipped the script, turning a seemingly impossible defense into a one-sided demolition to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.
The match began in disastrous fashion for Pakistan after being asked to bat first. West Indies bowlers attacked from the very first over, with Alzarri Joseph and Romario Shepherd dismantling the top order through sheer pace and aggression. Pakistan collapsed to 29/7 in only a few overs, and it looked certain they would register one of the lowest totals in the tournament.
The top order never settled. Sahibzada Farhan, Fakhar Zaman, Usman Khan, Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Nawaz all fell cheaply as the West Indies bowlers dominated proceedings. Romario Shepherd was particularly dangerous with his variations, while Alzarri Joseph’s raw pace caused constant problems.
Just when Pakistan seemed completely out of the contest, the lower order produced a remarkable fightback.
Faheem Ashraf counterattacked brilliantly with 18 off 11 balls, showing composure under pressure. Mohammad Wasim then played a breathtaking cameo, smashing 14 runs from only 5 deliveries, while Naseem Shah added another explosive 14 off 9 balls. Their late hitting dragged Pakistan to 75 all out in 8.3 overs — still a modest total in a T10 contest, but at least something competitive.
At the innings break, West Indies looked overwhelming favorites.
Brandon King started aggressively in the chase and briefly reinforced that belief with attacking strokes early on. But Pakistan’s bowlers responded with extraordinary intensity and completely changed the game within minutes.
Naseem Shah provided the breakthrough by trapping Brandon King LBW before removing the dangerous Roston Chase shortly after. Salman Mirza then dismissed Shimron Hetmyer, and panic suddenly spread through the West Indies lineup.
Shadab Khan’s introduction turned the collapse into total destruction. The Pakistan captain ripped through the middle order, dismissing Kyle Mayers, Akeal Hosein, and Alzarri Joseph in rapid succession. Faheem Ashraf removed Jason Holder and Nicholas Pooran, while Mohammad Wasim cleaned up the tail to seal an unforgettable win.
From 24/3, West Indies crashed to 41 all out in just 5.1 overs.
Pakistan’s bowling performance was sensational from start to finish. Every bowler attacked relentlessly, maintained pressure, and never allowed the West Indies batters to settle for even a single over. In a format where momentum changes instantly, Pakistan completely dominated the mental battle after defending a tiny total.
Faheem Ashraf was deservedly named Player of the Match for his crucial all-round contribution — scoring valuable late runs before returning to take two wickets during the collapse.
For West Indies, the defeat will be deeply frustrating. Their bowlers had already won half the game by restricting Pakistan to 75, but the batting lineup failed spectacularly under pressure. Chasing such a target in T10 cricket should normally be straightforward, making the collapse even more shocking.
Pakistan now carry massive momentum into the third match after producing back-to-back thrilling wins to begin the series. After escaping a last-over thriller in the opening game, they followed it with a historic low-score defense — proving this series is already turning into an unforgettable contest.
